It was confirmed last night that Magistrate Johanese Wellington of Court 11 in Freetown has granted permission to the SLPP Member of Parliament Foday Rado Yokie and others to travel out of Freetown in accordance with their bail condition.

Reports indicate that the Bo MP Rado Yokie and the other accused persons are now free to travel in any part of Sierra Leone but not outside the country, as set in the bail condition.

Confirming this report last evening by telephone, lawyer Easmon Ngakui, one of the defence lawyers for MP Rado Yokie, told this newspaper that Magistrate Wellington has indeed given permission to the suspects on Wednesday November 2, 2011 to travel out of Freetown.

SLPP MP Rado Yokie, now free to travel to

When asked if the bail condition has been changed to allow his clients to travel to Bo City, Lawyer Ngakui disclosed that the bail condition did not change. What you need to know is that in the bail condition the court ordered them not to leave Freetown unless permission is given by the court to do so, lawyer Ngakui told the Awareness Times.

Lawyer Ngakui also stated that it was Magistrate Wellington himself, with the power and authority invested in him, who personally granted the permission.

He said the accused persons do not only have their families in Bo, they also work there and added that their bail condition now will allow them to see their families and loved ones.

When pressed further if MP Rado Yokie and others have already left Freetown for Bo City, Lawyer Ngakui affirmed that they are at liberty to go now but he quickly noted that he couldnt tell if they have left for Bo.

It could be recalled that the Bo MP Rado Yokie and 13 others were recently bailed after being refused twice by Magistrate Wellington in Freetown.

The accused persons are facing charges for the bloody violence that erupted in Bo City in September during the thank-you-tour of the SLPP presidential candidate Julius Maada Bio.
