Members of the Krio Descendants Union from around the world have sent in a formal letter of condolence to His Excellency the President of Sierra Leone on the death of his dear mother. The letter which was signed on behalf of the global network of Sierra Leone Krios by Patrick Jackson (Chair) and Melbourne Garber (Vice Chair) is published on Page 3 of this edition of Awareness Times. Addressed to His Excellency the President, the letter reads:
"On behalf of the Krio Descendants Union chapters in the Diaspora, we would like to join our fellow Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to express our heartfelt sympathy and remorse for the passing of your mother, Mrs. Alice Koroma. The loss of a loved one is always devastating and especially the loss of a mother. As Father of the Nation, we grieve with you on this tragic loss and our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family".
Continuing, the letter assures that "Though we may be thousands of miles away, we share your loss just as personally and we hope you will be comforted by the outpouring of support from Sierra Leoneans throughout Sierra Leone and the world".
It was sent out on behalf of Krios in various cities around the world including London and American cities. A scanned copy of the letter which Awareness Times will ensure gets to be personally delivered to the President is reproduced down below:
