The outgoing Iranian Ambassador to Sierra Leone has on Tuesday 31st July 2012 lauded the efforts of the government of President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for achievements made so far in the last four years under the ďAgenda for ChangeĒ

Ambassador Noratallah Maleki made this commendation to government while bidding farewell to President Koroma during a courtesy call ceremony held at the Presidential Lodge, Hill Station.

He told the President that throughout his four and half years stay in Sierra Leone, he had experienced and witnessed a lot of accomplishments made by the government of President Koroma under the ďAgenda for ChangeĒ.

ďYou have done a lot for Sierra Leone under your flagship programme the Agenda for ChangeĒ, he said.

The Iranian diplomat further stated that his stay in Sierra Leone has been wonderfully valuable, and reiterated the need to strengthen the sound bilateral ties that existed between the two countries.

Ambassador Maleki assured President Koroma of his governmentís commitment to improve on the bilateral relationship between the two countries as he catalogued the Iranian governmentís interventions in the areas of health, education, agriculture and at governance level.

In response, President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma said it was indeed a great pleasure working with the outgoing Iranian envoy as his arrival in Sierra Leone coincided with the time when he took up office as President.

He acknowledged the contributions of the Iranian government in the various areas mentioned above as well as the consolidation of bilateral ties between Iran and Sierra Leone, which he said are in line with the ďAgenda for ChangeĒ.

At the political level, President Koroma recalled receiving a high powered delegation of Iranian Members of Parliament in Freetown, saying that Sierra Leone will be adequately represented at the Non-Aligned Summit slated for 30th Ė 31st August this year in Tehran.

President Koroma also said Ambassador Maleki is leaving at a time when Sierra Leone as a nation was determined to transform into a middle-income country.

ďWe are going to attain a middle-income status and I hope that Iran will form part of itĒ, he concluded.¬†
