FIRST BATCH TRANSFER OF LOCAL COUNCIL GRANTS FOR DEVOLVED FUNCTIONS FOR QUARTER TWO,  FY 2012

 

THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCES FOR THE INFORMATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT THE GOVERNMENT OF SIERRA LEONE HAS MADE TRANSFERS TO EIGHT LOCAL COUNCILS WHO HAVE MET THE CONDITIONS (I.E. SUBMISSION OF REVISED 2012 DEVELOPMENT PLANS, FIRST QUARTER FINANCIAL STATEMENT PRINTED FROM PETRA, AND SUBMISSION OF ALTERNATE SIGNATURES FOR ALL ACCOUNTS HELD AND MANAGED BY LOCAL COUNCILS) TO ACCESS THESE FUNDS.

 

SUBSEQUENT PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE AS AND WHEN THE SET CRITERIA ARE MET BY THE REMAINING COUNCILS.

 

A TOTAL OF LE3,540,165,894 (THREE BILLION FIVE HUNDRED AND FOURTY MILLION ONE HUNDRED AND HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND NINETY FOUR LEONES) HAS BEEN PAID TO THE BANK ACCOUNTS OF THESE LOCAL COUNCILS FOR THE DELIVERY OF SERVICES FOR THE DEVOLVED SECTORS.

 

THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT THESE FUNDS ARE MEANT FOR IMPLEMENTING PROGRAMS IN LOCAL COUNCILS APPROVED ANNUAL WORK PLANS FOR IMPROVED SERVICE DELIVERY CONSISTENT WITH THEIR STATUTORY OBLIGATIONS, DEVOLVED MDAs ARE REQUESTED TO LIAISE WITH LOCAL COUNCILS THROUGH THEIR ASSIGNED STAFF TO ENSURE THAT AGREED SECTOR PRIORITY ACTIVITIES ARE IMPLEMENTED WITH THE FUNDS DISBURSED.

 

LOCAL COUNCILS ARE REMINDED AS A MUST TO TRANSFER THESE FUNDS TO THE VARIOUS DEVOLVED SECTOR ACCOUNTS AS PER ATTACHED SCHEDULE, AND FURTHER ENSURE THAT THESE DETAILS ARE DISPLAYED ON COUNCILS NOTICE BOARDS, AND OTHER PUBLIC PLACES IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO THIS INFORMATION BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
