Good Morning Mr President [Umaru Fofana],
I humbly find your draft press release very interesting and contradictory and therefore would decline to circulate it with my name because of the following reasons:
∑¬†¬† I do not have enough knowledge about this matter because nobody reported anything to me as head of the secretariat.
∑¬†¬† Even though I enquired from you about the truth of the matter after listening to the VP on 98.1 on Wednesday, you told me categorically that ďit was all just politics and lies because it never happened.Ē In this regard, I find it extremely difficult to condemn an action of the SLPP for an incident which [Umaru had earlier insisted] ďnever happenedĒ.
∑¬†¬† I find this press release untimely. Had we condemned the action of the SLPP as stated in this [your] draft, immediately after the incident occurred, Iím strongly convinced that nobody would have had the opportunity to attack the credibility of SLAJ; something which Iím totally against.
Like I stated in one of my texts to you recently, this issue has become too political between the SLPP and APC, because we allowed the politicians to set the agenda for public debate on this matter due to the fact that we failed to act appropriately.
Once again, I cannot take responsibility for this press release [Umaru had drafted it with Ismaelís name at the bottom] and would also like to remind you that it will always pay good dividend for such releases to originate from the Secretariat and not the other way round.
