An Open Note to President Koroma: The Way Forward Post-Elections

Majority of the people of Sierra Leone have spoken loud and clear and the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has been re-elected. The time is now to keep steadfast and join hands in the interest of peace and development to strive for the future. Our country is going through the most desired transition from the least develop country to probably fastest developing country in Sub Sahara Africa and thus we must keep focus and refrain from issues that will addle the countrys socio-economic and political development.

Sierra Leone has seen both side of history, the country that had seen off the worst civil war in history and according to IMF the country with the fastest growing economy and the country that has upheld the ethics of democracy and the role of law.

The President has to firmly and with tenacity of his agenda for prosperity make sure that the record youth unemployment is a history in Sierra Leone because employment for youths is the fabric to sustainable development.

Finally, the role of WOMEN in Sierra Leone has to take another level, if we are to realise comprehensive and fruitful development. Women are the backbone of progress and society being a house wife supporting her husband or an employee supporting her country or company. Women should be integral part of any institution in the country.

The government has to bring in place policies that will favour women to climb the socio-economic and political ladder faster than men. Men have been centre stage since Independence but there are no tangible legacies prior to President Koromas intervention that we will be proud of.

There should be no excuse this time to ignore the power of WOMEN in quest to change our attitude and in the midst to develop our country. Women hold the key for the development of our country, so therefore we should not under any circumstance ignore them this time.
