As Police yet to get SLPP evidence of criminal acts, Maada Bio Go Pote na Guinea

Sierra Leone Chief Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Christiana Thorpe, took her time to painstakingly and publicly handle each and every one of the complaints forwarded to her by the opposition SLPP and PMDC about alleged fraudulent and criminal actions concerning the just concluded November presidential and general elections.

Complaints she could directly handle such as allegations of over-voting and ballot-stuffing, she promised to handle and indeed, she effectively did so by ordering recounts of many polling stations in presence of SLPP and PMDC agents. However, issues which were outside her mandate, she urged to be taken to attention of the right institution for such complaints which is the Sierra Leone Police.

To the dismay of many observers, neither SLPP nor PMDC could submit a single credible complaint to Police up to one month now. However, the SLPPs failed presidential candidate, Mr. Bio, has instead chosen to take verbal complaints, again without evidence, to neighbouring Guinea.

Den say make Maada Bio go pote na Police but ee go pote na Guinea! Na Ghana ee for done go back! said Alfred Sesay a news commentator in the local Krio parlance, which when translated means, Bio was told to go to the police with his complaint but instead he went to report to Guinea! It is to Ghana he should have gone once again!

Please see below for details of Bios Press Conference he called up on Tuesday December 18, 2012.

Maada Bio Complains to Guinea

The former presidential candidate of Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Mr. Julius Maada Bio has complained to neighbouring Guinean President, H.E Prof. Alpha Conde that his party is  aggrieved because, according to him, they were robbed of victory. This was revealed in a press statement read out by Bio at a press conference held at SLPPs headquarters in Freetown on Tuesday 18th December 2012.

Reading the statement, Mr. Bio said he told Guineas President of his refusal to accept the November 17th, 2012 elections result which according to him is flawed.

Mr. Bio said he also complained that his party was not satisfied with what he alleged to be an increasing ethnic/regional polarization and molestation and intimidation to which SLPP supporters are subjected both before and after the November 17 elections.

In response, Mr. Bio said, President Alpha Conde agreed that it was always important to avoid ethnic tensions, which according to the President, has the tendency to divide the peaceful existence of a nation.

President Conde stressed the need to maintain civil liberties and further pledged Guineas support to political unity in the sub-region, Bio revealed, adding of how President Conde spoke of the ties between the Founder of the ruling APC Siaka Stevens and the late Guinean President Sekou Toure.

Bio said he left Freetown on Friday 14th December this year, in the company of top SLPP executive members including Alusine Fofanah, Mrs. Isatu Jabbie-Kabba, and Alhaji Kanja Sesay on an invitation extended to them by the Guinean Government.
