Sierra Leone Parliament Impugns Shears-Moses Report; Hails Musa Tarawally as Lands Minister

One of the countrys most hardworking Cabinet Ministers in the person of Honourable Musa Tarawally was on Tuesday January 15th 2013, the recipient of streams of accolades from honourable parliamentarians. Two of the praises uttered inside the Well of Parliament have effectively reflected what the House of Parliament thinks about the unfortunate pieces of papers known as the Report of the Shears-Moses Commission of Inquiry.

Honourable Paramount Chief Banya of Kailahun described Musa Tarawally as a man who had respect for traditional authorities and who worked hard to ensure peace prevailed all over the country. This was in sharp contrast to the so-called findings of Shears-Moses that Tarawally was proven to be disrespectful to traditional authorities and a violent person.

Also speaking was the Leader of the House, Hon. S.B.B. Dumbuya who described Tarawally as a man who cuts across all sectors of the society without caring what social, political or economic cadre you belonged to. This again, was in contrast to the findings of the now-impugned Shears-Moses Commission report.

Meanwhile, shortly after his approval, Hon. Tarawally granted a short exclusive interview to this newspaper. He first of all thanked President Ernest Koroma for re-appointing him into his Cabinet. He revealed of how he had developed deep admiration for the President from as far back as 1998 when the Head of State was by then just a business magnate and international insurance executive.

I saw in President Koroma enormous leadership potential back then and today I am so proud and happy to be a part of his team working to serve our people. I cannot thank the President enough for the leadership he has given to this country, Musa Tarawally said.

When asked of what he planned to do at the Ministry of Lands which is one of the countrys trouble spots causing a lot of problems for the citizens and residents of Sierra Leone, the approved Lands Minister said he would not let the country down but planned to deliver results to sanitise all problem areas in the Lands Ministry.

President Koroma has a lot of confidence in my ability to deliver. I did not let him down at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and I will not let him and the country down at my new ministry, Hon. Tarawally promised.

Under my direct supervision of Internal Affairs and Police affairs, this country enjoyed the most peaceful elections in its History. Today, our youths no longer have cultish gangs in rivalry because of the measures I took as minister to bring them together. I have so many achievements at the Internal Affairs ministry and I intend to succeed similarly at the Lands, Country Planning & Environment Ministry. I am all geared up, the soft-spoken minister ended.
