Africell Lintel Limited has on Thursday 21st March 2013 donated Forty Million Leones to the Sierra Leone Armed Forces Squash Club at a ceremony held at the companys headquarters in Freetown.

According to Africells Corporate Affairs Officer, Joe Abass Bangura the Sierra Leone Armed Forces Squash Club is the oldest in the country. He said Squash is a popular Global racket sport played by two or four in a four walled court with small, hollow rubber ball.

He revealed that because of its fast pace and its requirement of metal agility, it has been described as Jet-propelled Chess.

Mr. Bangura went on that the Squash Club which was last refurbished in 2009 is now in a deplorable state, adding that in this regard, Africell is pleased to be making a presentation to the Club to kick start the renovation of the Squash court.

The Corporate Affairs Officer said after the refurbishment, the company will be supporting a fundraising Squash tournament to help the Club raise funds for the refurbishment of its other facilities including its swimming pool and perimeter fence.

He said Africells partnership with the RSLAF goes back several years when it became the first mobile communication company to provide them a closed user group facility. He said the company looks forward to other areas that they can partner together as the Army continues to establish itself as servant of the nation.
