The Sierra Leone House of Parliament on Tuesday 16th April 2013 unanimously approved three Presidential Nominees for various positions including Directors and Commissioners of various ministries, departments and agencies.

Prior to their approval, the nominees were interviewed by the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments and Public Services on established procedures based on their track records, educational background, public offices, tax obligations, and visions for new offices, among other things.

Presenting the nominees to the House of Parliament, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Sheku B.B. Dumbuya who doubles as Chairman of the Appointment Committee in Parliament said, the nominees have gone through very successful interviews organized by the Committee.

For the proposed Director-General of the Petroleum Directorate he went on, the nominee Mr. Raymond Saidu Kargbo has a double qualification as a Mineral Geologist and a Petroleum Geoscientist with wealth of experience in such areas. He informed the House that, Mr. Kargbo had worked for many oil companies in both government and private entities in different countries including Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Angola, Ghana, Nigeria, Mauritania and Benin.

Hon. Dumbuya also introduced the proposed Deputy Commissioner for National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Mrs. Isatu Kamara as an educationalist and a development consultant of eminence. He disclosed that Mrs. Kamara has promised to work above all personal considerations in her national duty.

Finally Hon. Dumbuya described the proposed Executive Director for the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration, Alhaji Wurie Jalloh as a Mechanical Engineer who joined the Maritime Administration in 2003. Mr. Wurie according to the honourable had served as Senior Lecturer at Milton Margai College of Education and Technology and has wealth of experience that will warrant Parliament to approve him for the position he was appointed for by the President.

Hon. Manly Spain of the All Peoples Congress (APC), advised the nominees to be diligent and to also work in the best interest of the State, whilst assuring them that the doors of Parliament will always be opened to them for consultancy.

Hon. Gladys Gbapi of the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) said that this set of presidential nominees were the best among others ever appointed by President Koroma. She noted that the nominees were all over qualified for their various positions.

"I admired their CVs" she disclosed, adding; "when you give a position to someone for which he is over qualified, more improvements or gains will be realised".

She maintained that with these nominees, the Agenda for Prosperity will be on the right track.
