In Sierra Leone, MRU Presidents will Celebrate in Yenga alongside Solar Powered Street Lights

The April 30th 2013 Joint Communiqu signed by the four Presidents of the Mano River Union sub regional body at conclusion of annual MRU Summit in Monrovia has publicly announced that the Yenga issue between Sierra Leone and Guinea has been resolved. The Communiqu further adds that the four Heads of State will soon pay a joint visit to Yenga to hold celebrations over this final resolution of the longstanding border dispute between Sierra Leone and Guinea.

The Communiqu paid special tribute to the leadership shown in the final resolution of the Yenga dispute by Guinean President Alpha Conde.

Meanwhile, Honourable Minister of Energy & Power, Oluniyi Robbin-Coker has informed this newspaper that he has been instructed by President Koroma to ensure that some of the solar lights slated for ongoing installation in district headquarter towns, should be installed in Koindu town on the road to Yenga.

Although Koindu in the Kissi Teng chiefdom is not a district headquarter town, the residents are amongst the most deprived in the country having suffered some of the worst brunt of the civil war in addition to now-ended years of occupation of their farm lands within and around Yenga by Guinean troops. Koindu used to be a thriving market town that served Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

It is widely known that the Sierra Leone Head of State holds the fullest revival of the formerly booming Koindu market town in the Kissi area as something close to his heart.

Awareness Times has learnt that the plan is to have the central roundabout and parts of Koindu town to become brightly lit in the night with solar powered street lights; especially on the road known as Guinea Road which leads into the now liberated Yenga.

If all goes according to plan, by the time the MRU Presidents will be arriving in Yenga for the celebrations, Koindu will be a town with some solar powered street lights especially along Guinea Road.
