Sierra Leone High Commissioner Hosts International Press

Batteries of Independent Journalists from various News Papers, Radios & Television Stations had been bombarding the Offices of the Sierra Leone High Commission Chancery at Plot 308 Mission Road, Diplomatic Zone all in a bid to interview the High Commissioner, Henry Olufumi Macauley regarding the 52nd Independence Anniversary of Sierra Leone and developmental changes that had taken place under the leadership of His Excellency, President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.

 

Since his appointment as High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ambassador Macauley has been calling Sierra Leoneans in a form of Uniting by bringing them together to Celebrate April 27th Anniversary every year both in Abuja and Lagos respectively.

 

Ambassador Macauley first dilated on the bilateral mutual relationship between Sierra Leone and Nigeria particularly the latters role in saving Sierra Leoneans from the eleven {11} years brutal war.

 

He furthered that, Nigerias contributions to Sierra Leones Economy; Social and Infrastructural development is well appreciated and will never be forgotten by all patriotic Sierra Leoneans.

 

H.E. Henry Macauley also spoke of the Attitudinal and Behavioral Change {ABC] which created great impact on the people and the Agenda for Prosperity which is presently on course. He cited the Independency of the Anti Corruption Commission {ACC} as the best structured and strong Commission so far that is free to investigate and prosecute cases without any interference from any quarters whatsoever. 


Ambassador Macauley pointed out several developmental changes that had been carried out by His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koromas government within this period such as, the decade old poor Road network system which is now a Standard Road, both Trunk and Feeder Roads; the over thirty {30} years of Black Out that was in the Country Particularly the Capital City, Freetown which was dubbed, the Darkest City in the World, now enjoying adequate Electricity. He added that, the Mining Companies, African Minerals and London Mining are performing perfectly in the Economic growth and Employment of Youths in the Country. He also spoke of the Free Health Care for Lactating Mothers and Infant Mortality which is on course and the Agricultural sector of its Food Security which is commendable.

 

However, the 52nd Independence Anniversary Celebration was well attended by Sierra Leoneans, Nigerian friends and Government representatives. Friday 26th April, Prayers were offered for President Ernest Bai Koroma, the Government and people of Sierra Leone at the Central Mosque which Was witnessed by His Excellency the Vice President of Nigeria, Namadi Sambo. Saturday 27th was the Day Sierra Leoneans converged at the Embassy to grace the Occasion and on Sunday 28th. Thanksgiving Service was held at the St. Mathews Anglican Church, Maitama in Abuja.  

 

Meanwhile, Ambassador Macauley spoke of the Construction of the Lungi Bridge which will soon start and the recent discovery of the Oil in the Southern Province.
