In Sierra Leone, Margai Freed On Le50million Bail

A Sierra Leonean Elder Statesman, 68 years old Mr. Charles Margai was yesterday May 13th 2013 released from a 66 hours police custody on a bail of Le50million and handed over to two sureties in persons of his PMDC party's spokesman Bamidele Thompson and PMDC Treasurer Alford Wilson. Margai was freed before the 72 hours constitutional time limit. Whilst Police continue their investigations into Margais recent utterances, his sureties should ensure Margai reports himself to police on alternate days; starting this Wednesday 15th May 2013.

Many citizens, as espoused by the National Youth Coalition and sober-minded civil society groups, felt threatened and developed a feeling of insecurity over the rather unfortunate utterances of Lawyer Margai who is normally a fine, well-respected man.

As police continue their investigations, many of his admirers hope the enigmatic politician, Mr. Charles Margai, will find a way to allay fears of compatriots over his comments about starting problems in our Nation with a marshalling of over 20,000 kamajors from the provinces.
