Awareness Times is Flying High at Sierra Leoneís High Court

When AWARENESS TIMES newspaper took the Independent Media Commission (IMC) to court last year September for illegally suspending our newspaper, we were fully confident that we were within our rights. We also had Sulaiman Kabba Koroma Esq., the award-winning lawyer to argue for us.

Yesterday Monday May 13th 2013, was an enormous victory again for us at AWARENESS TIMES when the brilliant High Court Ruling in matter of AFRI-RADIO versus IMC, repeatedly cited the case of AWARENESS TIMES versus IMC as having used a correct and lawful procedure with which to approach the courts when seeking redress from IMC.

We are not suprised at this ruling which praises us for being law-abiding in our method of approaching the courts. It was the expected outcome especially after irony of no less persons than IMC Lawyers, Crispin Fio Edwards and L.M. Farmah, stating in open court last week that IMC relied on ruling in favour of AWARENESS TIMES against IMC as basis for their arguments against AFRI-RADIO application.

Throughout yesterdayís ruling read in High Court against AFRI-RADIO, were the words of the honourable Judge as he upheld the arguments of the IMCís lawyers Crisoin Fio Edwards and L.M. Farmah Esq. that the law-abiding and prudent AWARENESS TIMES acted within both the National Constitution (Act No. 6 of 1991) and the IMC Act No. 12 of 2000 in the legally correct method of approaching the courts but that AFRI-RADIO did not do so.

The High Court Ruling decried AFRI-RADIO for trying to circumvent the IMC Actís prescribed method but repeatedly praised AWARENESS TIMES repeatedly for following a legally prudent pathway.

We have all reason to be very proud of ourselves at this newspaper! We are prudent and law-abiding. The High Court of the Republic of Sierra Leone has repeatedly said so this year - It is now in the law archives.
