The Honorable Member of Parliament (MP) representing Constituency 108 and the All Peoples Congress (APC) party in the Sierra Leone Parliament has donated cleaning and other equipments worth millions of Leones to market women and youths and social clubs in his constituency.

On Sunday 26th May 2013, Hon. Dr. Mitchel Sho-Sawyer donated wheelbarrows, shovels, and bundles of zinc, among other equipments, to his constituents residing an operating in Kingtom Zone 1. The event took place at the Kingtom Katty Field in Freetown.

At the ceremony, Hon. Sho-Sawyer said the donation was the aftermath of weekly zonal meetings in which issues relating to the progress of the constituency are being discussed.

He said the executive and ordinary members of Kingtom Zone 1 recently raised concerns with regards to the fate of the market women during the raining season. Concerns were also raised that the various youth groups in that part of the city need more cleaning equipment so that they would be able to always keep the area clean, he said, adding that special request for the provision of zincs for the market women was made.

According to him, the concerns were very urgent, thus the immediate provision of the zincs and cleaning equipments.

The APC MP said the affairs of the women and youths are top in his development agenda, nothing that no community or country will develop with the immense contribution of women are youth.

As the father of the constituency, I am very much determined to address the needs of my constituents for the general good of the country, he said.

The zincs, he said, would be used to roof the market stalls for the women so that they will conveniently do their trade during the rainy season.

According to him, it is very much fulfilling to provide for market women, as according to him, they have several other people who depend on them for their daily sustenance.

The young MP assured the community that he will do his best to ensure that a community center is constructed for the people of Kingtom before the expiration of his tenure in Parliament.

He urged the youths and traders to judiciously utilize the equipments for the general good of the country.

Receiving the items on behalf of the traders, Madam Mariatu Sesay expressed appreciation to the MP. She assured their parliamentary representative that they will always support development strides in the constituency.

Youth clubs representatives gave similar assurances to the MP and praised him for a job well done.
