Energy Minister, Oluniyi Robin-Coker has reechoed His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koromaís commitment to ensure that electricity is supplied to all regions, districts, chiefdoms and towns/cities of Sierra Leone soonest.
He said the Bumbuna dam will soon be ready to supply abundant electricity around the country, adding that the dam has been having structural and technical problems that have now been resolved.
Minister Robin-Coker revealed that President Koroma has said that all district and chiefdom headquarters in Sierra Leone will soon enjoy constant electricity. The President, he went on, made the statement on his return from a very successful trip to Japan.
He said already, district headquarters like Magburaka, Port Loko and Kailahun are enjoying street lights powered by solar energy, adding that hydro and solar energy supply are now the norm in Sierra Leone.
According to the minister, President Koroma has emphasized that electricity supply is a significant plank in his governmentís Agenda for Prosperity which is currently underway and that experts have said that if the Government of Sierra Leone remains focused on its energy plan, every village and hamlet in the country will have electricity in a few years.
