The All Peoples Congress (APC) Member of Parliament for Constituency 51, Hon. Abie Kalokoh has revealed plans to meet and hold discussions with business entities including mining companies operating within her constituency.

According to the honorable, she would be engaging companies such as African Minerals, London Mining and ADDAX Bio-fuel in order to discuss issues pertaining development of the constituency and its inhabitants.

She said we cannot have such companies operating in our constituency without us realizing benefits from their operations, adding that the meeting will remind the companies of their corporate social responsibility in the constituency.

Hon. Kalokoh made this disclosure during one of her usual rotational meetings within wards in her constituency, aimed to meet the people, get firsthand information about their needs and jointly map out solutions to address them.

She said the proposed meeting will be witnessed by various community elders including councilors, paramount chiefs, religious leaders, school pupils and traditional leaders.

The honorable said it is the sole responsibility of companies operating in a particular constituency to provide jobs for people in that constituency, adding that youth in her constituency are seriously deprived because some of these mining companies operating in the constituency have refused to employ them. She encouraged youths in her constituency to capacitate themselves with modern skill trainings for them to be fit for employment in these companies.
