Destroying V.P. Sam Sumana

The Honourable Vice-President of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Chief Sam-Sumana is one of the most perfect gentlemen you can come across. Soft-spoken and with an almost boyish charm, he comes across as someone who will not hurt a fly. He is personable, humble, courteous and likeable.

However, of late, the Vice-Presidents media team he has assembled are going all out to antagonise others; sometimes in inexplicable manners. It has now reached worrying proportions. We all know that the game plan of SLPP media (especially the Fofana duo) is to instigate problems between Sam-Sumana and the President. We are not surprised with their antics but we will today make bold to identify some of the VPs non-SLPP media handlers like David Tam Baryoh of MONOLOGUE programme and Edward Marrah, a journalist/writer. the list is not limited to these two but we are citing them as examples. In recent times, both have been of more of liability than asset to Sam-Sumanas image.

For allegedly running against the interest of the Vice-President, Hon. Diana Konomani is a regular topic for bashing on MONOLOGUE to an extent that the woman now enjoys huge sympathies in places she never used to enjoy sympathy. Also, MONOLOGUE is losing its attraction and is now seen by many as a bashing point for anyone even remotely perceived as being against the interest of the Vice-President.

Honestly, this vengeful image is not good for the gentleman-image of our VP. Just look at solar lights issue, meant to tarnish Diana Konomani. It has now backfired. They dug a hole for Diana but they fell into it.

Similarly, strong indications are that some of VPs media handlers like Edward Marrah who have been viciously attacking Sylvia Blyden over matters of little consequence, might now be working on directives of hidden hands sympathetic to the VPs 2018 presidential ambitions. Sylvia Blyden does not have 2018 presidential ambitions so those attacking her under puppet string guidance, are not helping the Honourable Vice-President who has always been treated by Blyden as her big brother. The multiple times Blyden played roles to clear the way for the VPs image to remain undented does not need recounting.

No-one hired her to do it but she did it out of conviction. She does not deserve anything other than gratitude from Chief Sam-Sumana and his media handlers. She must be respected.

Dr. Sylvia Blyden decided to serve President Koroma faithfully as her boss because she has enormous respect for him but she really does not need a government job. She does not need name recognition and is already quite popular on her own merit. Dr. Sylvia Blyden can quit State House tomorrow if she likes but she chose to serve there as a very big asset to President Koroma & APC.

If his media folks care for Sam-Sumana, they should do introspection and go back to the drawing board.Right now, they are seriously alienating him and creating enemies for him in society. They are not helping him; they are destroying him! This is not the way to help VP Sam-Sumana. This is frank talk. Thanks.
