Calls have continued to be made for Assistant Inspector General of Police, Chris Charley (aka Police Squealer), to go back on television and explain why his police men beat up and detained the father of the innocent pupil they shot and killed to an untimely death. It can be recalled that Charley LIED to the nation. Instead of apologising for his LIES, he said he had not lied but only told an untruth. See below.

Father of killed pupil was beaten up, wounded & locked up by police but no one has told us why!

As Sierra Leone Police has a new Squealer...

AIG Chris Charley & the Killed Ladís Dad

By Our Editorial Team

In George Orwellís masterpiece fiction entitled ANIMAL FARM, there is depicted the way a regime can start off quite well but lose its way and its ideals. In the book, animals on a farm are used to depict various human traits; some despicable, others laudable. One such depiction was about use of vile propaganda to justify arrant nonsense happening within such a regime. One such propagandist was a pig known as SQUEALER. He is described in the book as ďa brilliant talker, and when he was arguing some difficult point he had a way of skipping from side to side and whisking his tail which was somehow very persuasiveĒ Furthermore, the other animals on the farm said of Squealer that he ďcould turn black into whiteĒ.

In his speeches, Squealer would talk so sincerely even when he was lying and misleading. With tears rolling down his cheeks, he would convincingly tell of the wisdom of the regimeís leader called Napolean. He would extoll ďthe goodness of his heart, and the deep love he bore to all animals everywhere, even and especially the unhappy animals who still lived in ignorance and slavery.Ē

Squealer was quite shameless in how he went about his propaganda. For example, whilst trying to justify why they (the pig leaders) needed to tax the sweat of the other animals to enjoy and make their pig lives merry, this is what Squealer had to say of why only the pigs enjoyed milk and apples whilst it was banned for other animals: ďĎComrades!í he (Squealer) cried. ĎYou do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig. We pigs are brain-workers. The whole management and organization of this farm depend on us. Day and night we are watching over your welfare. It is for your sake that we drink that milk and eat those apples.Ē

When some of the animals try to ask questions about why things did not seem to be going right, Squealer will come in and befuddle them or bedazzle them with his  shiny eyes as he assured them that they, the doubting animals, had memory problems or he would use psychological browbeating to make them feel they were inferior for questioning what seemed abnormal.

In other words, Squealer would mesmerise the farm animals into starting to believe that normal was now abnormal and abnormal was now normal. Squealer, with a straight face, will shamelessly turn black into white and white into black. That is Squealer.

Now, we have given this backdrop, let us fast forward to current day Sierra Leone. This newspaperís editorial team will like to appeal to management of Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) TV to replay over and over again the session of Wednesday 13th November 2013 between Assistant Inspector General of Police Chris Charley and broadcaster Asmieu Bah as aired during the PODIUM lunchtime program. We make this appeal because everyone needs to get a chance to watch that episode with our latest Squealer in the person of AIG Charley having emerged on the scene in our land. Watch as Charley extols the Ďvirtuesí of his own Napoleon (i.e.: IG Munu) and then listen how he speaks of the selflessness of the Police in enjoying the countryís taxpayers monies as they shoot un-armed civilians in just one too many times now! Well, indeed Chris Charley is the new Squealer of the Sierra Leone Police who explained that although he was the one who signed the totally false release that the murdered student did not die from gunshot wounds, he had not lied but he had only signed an untrue statement.

Well AIG Charley, we accept that you did not lie but only told an untrue statement. So let us move on.What we now want to know is the issue which you desperately dodged throughout all your Krio (We Yus) & English interviews in which you tried to turn black into white like Squealer of ANIMAL FARM. That issue concerns the way the Police treated the father of the youth who was shot dead. We hope you can explain the true reason why the Police locked up the dead boyís father in a cell, away from public contact, for some 24 hours. We are puzzled.

We insist that this country needs an explanation because the last time a police officer helped kill a journalist at Grafton, the police did a similar trick of detaining innocent disables as ďmurder suspectsĒ for 15 days in order to cover up the ineptitude of the police. Back then, many believed it was to cover up the fact that the journalist had been killed with aid of a Policeman so¬† disables were detained as ďmurder suspectsĒ.

We have seen a repeat today with the dead youthís father kept away from the public in a stinking police detention whilst the Police Squealer went about signing LIES (sorry, untruths!) alongside his men LYING (sorry, being untruthful!) that no gun was fired.

Whilst the dead boyís father was languishing in a police cell out of public sight, Squealer and his men were desperately planting stories in local media distorting the true picture of what happened to the dead boy.

The father of the lad who died from gunshot wounds was safely and tightly locked away in a cell, first at Eastern Police and then at CID, effectively keeping him silenced whilst our own Police ĎSquealerí got SLBC TV, radio stations and print media to publish his LIES (sorry, his untruths).

AIG Chris Charley, if you think the detention of the dead youthís father was legitimate and correct, please now address that issue which is reproduced in the box down below:

(Extract) POLICE LIED! - Ansarul Pupil Died of Gunshot

Awareness Times, Freetown, 13th November 2013: During our investigations, we discovered that the adopted father of the late pupil, his maternal uncle who raised him since he was 5 years, one Mr. Santigie Bangura, was arrested & locked up overnight by the Police. Bangura explained his ordeals in tears. He said he was going about his business when his other son, Lamin Bangura rushed to him shouting that Alhaji has been shot and bleeding.

ďI immediately went to the scene to ascertain whether it was true or not. Upon approaching the school gate, I was prevented by officers from entering the compoundĒ. He furthered that, ďupon insisting that it was my son who was bleeding to death inside the compound, they officers immediately hand-cuffed me and started beating meĒ.

ďThey dragged me to Eastern Police station beating me along the way like I was a criminal. I was weeping that my son was bleeding inside the compound but they did not pay heed. I was detained at that station until 9pm, and then dragged to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were I passed the night behind bars. They did not seem to care that my son was shot by themĒ. Mr. Bangura said.¬†¬†¬†¬†

According to Bangura, he was only released the next (Tuesday) afternoon which was when he then went to the mortuary and met the post mortem being conducted on his sonís body.
