In a bid to promote investment opportunities in Sierra Leone, All Peoples Congress (APC) Member of Parliament, Hon. Thomas B. Turay aka TBT, has ended a five day working visit to Rome-Italy, where he held fruitful discussions with representatives of UNESCO on the Biotechnology and Technology Development for Africa.
According to the Honourable, in series of meetings held with top investors during his tour, issues regarding the possibility of establishing collaborative projects on development and technology transfer between Italy and Sierra Leone were deliberated on.He said other issues such as the possibility of setting up a center for research, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, particularly HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria were also lengthily discussed. He said they also discussed plans for the establishment of an industrial initiative for the production of generic drugs, with particular reference to drugs such as vaccines, antibiotics, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and supplements.

Hon. Turay went on that issues regarding the provision and improvement of access to safe water facilities were also discussed, with suggestions and recommendations made on how to develop a project both for the verification of the mobility of water supply and the construction of wells in Sierra Leone were discussed.
He said in the area of agricultural development, they also discussed the possibility of initiating projects for the facilitation of domestic farming and sustainable agriculture in order to increase overall production of farm products among other things.
Hon. Thomas B. Turay recent visits to both Switzerland and Italy are likely to attract potential investors into Sierra Leone, especially in the areas of health, water, agriculture and tourism.
