TEMPORARY REDUCTION IN BUSINESS OPERATING HOURS

Dear Valued Customers and the Public at Large,

In support of the measures taken by the Government of Sierra Leone to contain the spread of the Ebola virus and following a declaration on July 30, 2014, of a State of National Public Health Emergency, Sierra Leone Association of Commercial Banks, (SLACB),announces effective THURSDAY AUGUST 14, 2014,a reduction in banks business hours as follows;

 

     Branches in non-epicenters: Opening Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

     Branches in epicentres i.e., Kenema and Kailahun: Opening Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m

     No Saturday Banking

As an industry, we continue to solicit your cooperation with regards the washing of hands with chlorinated water prior to entering into banking premises.Furthermore, in order to prevent overcrowding in banks lobbies, we ask most respectfully that appreciable distances are maintained between persons that wait in queues.   If necessary, customers would be asked most politely, to wait outside and shall be called in order, once again to limit any kind of overcrowding.

Please be assured that each customer would be served and that these measures are simply meant to help reduce body contact, which health professionals have advised shall assist in limiting contagion. 


We earnestly look forward to the speedy resumption of normal business hours and operations and thank you for your understanding and support during this period.


Sierra Leone Association of Commercial Banks, (SLACB) is an Association that comprises all thirteen registered commercial banks; Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, Union Trust Bank, Zenith Bank (SL), Keystone Bank (SL), Skye Bank (SL), Rokel Commercial Bank,  International Commercial Bank (SL),  United Bank for Africa (SL), Access Bank (SL), First International Bank (SL),  Guaranty Trust Bank (SL), Standard Chartered Bank (SL) and EcoBank (SL).  


 


The Secretariat is located in the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank building at35A Lightfoot Boston Street, 6
th Floor Suites, Freetown, and is headed by Ms. Shola Taylor-Pearce, who serves as Executive Secretary and Chief Operating Officer.The Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers of all thirteen banks comprise the board of directors, with Mr. Clement Dodoo, Managing Director, Ecobank (SL) serving as Chairman and Mrs. HasiatuJalloh-Agbaje, Managing Director, First International Bank (SL)as Deputy Chairman.  


On July 18, 2014,SLACB identified withthe national fight against the spread of the Ebola virus, by donating a cheque in the amount of Le 150 million to the Minister of Health and Sanitation.
