According to Africells Chief Corporate Officer, Joe Abass Bangura, on 20th August this year the Companys CEO, Shadi Gerjawi launched a scheme setting aside Le1.00 (One Leone) for every minute spoken on the network, as part of the companys continuing support to the fight against the Ebola epidemic. The scheme is being used to generate proceeds in order to acquire the food provisions. He said a total of 42,500 Kilos was earlier delivered under the scheme, and that the program was for the presentation of 18, 750 (375 bags) to make it a total of 1,225 bags.

He went on to state that, this third consignment of food will be delivered to epicenters and quarantined communities in Freetown, Makeni, Bo, Kailahun, Lunsar, Port Loko, Tonkolili and Moyamba and that they will continue to provide information, feeding, funding and contribution to close Government gaps and also to ensure that Ebola is defeated.  He urged all Sierra Leoneans to be vigilant in following all the rules provided by health authorities to interrupt further transmission of the disease.

The High Table

For her part, the Councilor for Ward 389 that is hosting the Africell Company, Madam Aminata Gibril Sesay, gave a lot of accolades to Africell for not only the presentation of food to the Government, but for what they have been doing over the years to her Ward and the entire constituency 110. She revealed that Africell is the best and that they lead and others follow. The Councilor noted that the company has been helping in so many other areas in the country.

The Deputy Government Spokesman, Ajibu Jalloh said Africell has gone far beyond making profit but also in partnership with the Government to help in diverse ways and that Africell is a true partner of the Government. He stated that Africell is fast becoming a professional in providing food for quarantined homes and epicenters in the country. He revealed that the Government recognizes the support by Africell and that they will remain grateful to them. He said the strategy in containing the spread of the Ebola virus is that everybody must abide by the Avoid Body Contact and Avoid Peoples Compound ABC and APC respectively.
