Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, an honorary executive member of ruling All Peoples Congress party and a close political ally of President Koroma, has slammed at Opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) for "orchestrating much drama around baseless allegations that the President has acted in an unconstitutional manner by filling the V.P. vacancy caused when former VP Sam Sumana lost his APC membership".
Dr. Sylvia Blyden spoke to this paper in a telephone interview from Washington DC where she is attending meetings.
According to her, the SLPP is facing what she has described to be "a 37% Dilemma".
Blyden is strongly insisting that openly stated SLPP threats to incite streets demonstrations, civil unrest and a possible military take-over from APC Government has nothing to do with the automatic vacancy caused in the Office of the Vice-President when former VP Sam-Sumana lost his APC party membership.
It can be recalled the Vacancy has been filled by the President who had cause to relieve Sam-Sumana from the duties the former VP had purported to have been continuing to do.
In filling vacancy, Honourable Victor Bockarie Foh has been named by President Koroma as the new Vice-President of Sierra Leone. On Page 9 is an article by Blyden about the “37% Dilemma” propelling the SLPP's recent threats.
