In a Communique read out to the public by their Secretary General at the end of the Emergency National Delegates Conference of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party that was held on 30th April 2015, the APC has “acknowledge that the Chairman and Leader, His Excellency the President severally stated that the utilization of funds and other resources for the fight against Ebola would be subjected to strict accountability and transparency processes”. The APC further hailed the “astute leadership” of President Koroma.
Continuing, the APC in its resolutions, then urged for expedited action from the House of Parliament, the Anti Corruption Commission and other oversight institutions in taking action on issues raised in the audit of funds for the fight against Ebola.
It can be recalled Transparency International recently praised Ernest Bai Koroma led government of Sierra Leone for being the first one in whole of Africa to institute an Audit into management of Ebola funds.
However, there have been concerns raised that action against alleged perpetrators was not forthcoming.
The APC is now on record as haven joined the calls for speedy actions to be taken. APC also supports Koroma’s calls for transparency & accountability.
Meanwhile, the APC is urging its various organs to continue the battle against Ebola through sensitization on what is required to eradicate Ebola.
The party has also endorsed the post-Ebola recovery strategies of the Government and again urges all organs to educate the generality of Sierra Leoneans on the government’s Post-Ebola Recovery Plans.
