While his idle detractors are busy knocking themselves out with malicious lies that show just their hearts’ intents, President Ernest Bai Koroma continues to endear himself to the hearts of the Sierra Leonean people by engaging in more development projects spread across the broad spectrum of the nation.
A routine trip to conduct his annual physical examination in the Republic of Germany, which any reasonable man who wants to live long does , could not but sent into overdrive the President’s detractors, especially the malevolent supporters of the fallen former Vice-President Alhaji Sam Sumana, who have turned the social media into a hotbed of lies and misinformation. Jesus Christ warned that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. When people spread lies, it is easier to discern the imaginations of their hearts. It is what they wish.
Sam Sumana supporters in the social media, who want to see the President dead or disabled, knocked themselves out this weekend with whopping lies that President Ernest Koroma had fallen seriously ill with cancer while attending the African Union Summit in South Africa and had been rushed to Germany for treatment. What an unproductive use of social media. It turned out that President Koroma flew back to Sierra Leone from South Africa and then left the country to honor his doctors’ appointment in Germany for his routine annual medical examination.
Our nation has become pitiful with the advent of easy access to the instruments of mass communications by disgruntled, power-hungry and unpatriotic citizens. The internet and social media in the hands of some Sierra Leoneans is akin to deadly weapons of mass destruction in the hands of terrorists.
Anyway, one thing that is sure is that while his enemies are busy praying unsuccessfully for his demise, the greater part of the nation is always praying for continued good health for President Koroma because of the development projects he keeps embarking on for the betterment of the country. Ebola may be a stubborn guest, but the whole country knows that President Koroma has been delivering many magnificent development projects.
While his enemies are busy spreading lies about him, President Koroma is busy cementing his legacy of being the most development-oriented Leader our nation has ever had since Independence.
This month, the government signed contract papers for huge development projects about to be undertaken by the APC Government in one of the strongholds of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP)–MOYAMBA.
The Finance Minister proudly addressed guests at the ceremony : “Let me welcome you all to this signing ceremony. As you are aware, infrastructure for socio-economic development in Sierra Leone as detailed in the Agenda for Prosperity, and consistent with vision 2035, is among the key flagships of Government. It is my great pleasure, on behalf of the Government of His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, to sign this Contract for Road Works: the Moyamba Junction to Moyamba and number of bridges.”
According to the Finance Minister, “… The Moyamba Junction to Moyamba road is an important corridor for access to the fourteen chiefdoms in the Moyamba district and beyond. The road works and bridges will therefore be constructed to ease access, and to fully harness and maximize economic inclusion for the people of Moyamba and the South. “
“Phase 1 of the project will (i) Rehabilitate the road from Moyamba Junction to Moyamba Town, covering 32.9km; (ii) Construct a new Gbangbama Bridge and to replace the Bailey Bridge in the Moyamba Township which was constructed in the 1970s.”
“Phase II will involve the construction of a new Mabang and Magbele bridges. As you know, the Mabang Bridge collapsed two years ago. As a result, it has caused considerable distress to residents and motorists in the area since then. But we are turning over a new page in the history of the Mabang and Magbele Bridges, which for the first time, will be two-lane bridges.”
The opposition SLPP ruled for 11 years but never thought it fit to develop even its own strongholds, not to mention the other parts of the country. But during the reign of the APC of President Koroma, SLPP strongholds of Kailahun, Kenema, Pujehun and Moyamba have seen development projects far beyond the imagination of the people.
His enemies can deny all they want, but the fact will always remain that the legacy of national development that President Koroma will leave when his term expires will be unprecedented in the history of the nation. The evidence will always be there that the man who developed our nation better than any other Leader had ever done is PRESIDENT ERNEST BAI KOROMA. And that is why we are all proud of him.
