President Ernest Bai Koroma on Wednesday July 8th 2015 left for the United States of America during which he will address the UN Pledging Conference on Ebola on Sierra Leone’s National Ebola Recovery strategy and the bumpy road to achieving resilient zero infections.

The conference, which is being held by the United Nations, in collaboration with the Governments of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, will focus international attention on the need for targeted investments to support recovery priorities over a period of 24-months. “Such investments will consider the broader risk landscape, that includes health, governance and peace building within the three countries and Mano River sub-region,” a release from the UN states. The pledging session itself will take place in the afternoon of Friday July 10 where donors will make pronouncements on the amounts they will provide in support of each of the recovery plans of the three worst-hit countries. The private sector will also be invited. The conference is expected to increase international support to the affected countries and the MRU region, with concrete financial commitments to support national and regional recovery strategies over a period of 24 months. The president and delegation will return to Freetown on Saturday July 11th 2015.
