Hon. Robin Faley, the Board Chairman for Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has expressed excitement and appreciation for the exhibition of strong political will by President Ernest Bai Koroma to ensure access to safe and clean drinking water to rural communities.
He was speaking during an announcement to unveil a whopping 100% increase in salaries of all staff of SALWACO.
The Board Chairman reaffirmed his vision of transforming SALWACO into a more resourceful and efficiently functioning company hence reducing its total dependence on government subvention and strengthening of its human resource capacity to further enhance the company’s productiveness.
He commended staff for exercising patience for all this while and assured them of their welfare that would always be part of the company’s culture.
Meanwhile, SALWACO Staff are beaming with smiles made possible through sincere efforts by government for a very impressive pay package among other benefits that involve 100% salary increase and other allowances. This positive development has brought smiles to staff of the institution who have not benefitted from such significant increase for the past years.
Peter James Koroma, one of the drivers has been working with the company for the past 10 years proudly lauded SALWACO stating that the increase is the best news he has received as a driver, adding, “the 100% increase has changed everything around me and therefore I will do my best to ensure that the vision of SALWACO actualizes”.
Engineer Lebbie, commended the Government, the Board and management of the company for such an ambitious move.
SALWACO Director General, Samuel Bangura, who is the brain behind the increase showered praises on government, the Minister and the Board Chairman for being so instrumental in seeing the dream come true. Samuel Bangura emphasized on team work and commitment to provide the required services to the rural communities.
