As expected in a democratic Nation, the Head of State in America, President Barack Obama, has yesterday 16th March 2016, exercised his constitutional singular right to appoint the Chief Justice and Supreme Court judges when he nominated Justice Merrick Garland to fill the current vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Similarly in the United Kingdom, it is again the Head of State who nominates the Chief Justice; same with Scotland and most other democratic countries.
Here in Sierra Leone, an octogenarian who has seemingly allowed Opposition to hijack a sacred constitutional review out of his frail hands, would actually imagine that this country will elect an Executive President and then allow opposition charlatans to remove the President's due constitutional powers. This is why they imagined up that obtuse and strange recommendation - that a President should no longer appoint Chief Justice.
Furthermore, having lost face last year, they are still in a desperate bid to subject the current Presidency and our Supreme Court to some ridicule. So, nefarious cohorts from infamous "37% group", have also escalated their buffoonery to recommend that a Vice-President who loses his party membership, should continue to serve in such position under a President whose party no longer trusts that VP. Those who think this country will accept such silly recommendations, are surely living in La-la land.
