Sierra Leone News : Zimbabwe Presidential Spokesman Confirms Embarrassment Riots

Zimbabwe Presidential Spokesman has confirmed that the Zimbabwean government was seriously embarrassed when Zimbabwean Opposition and anti-government citizens staged violent demonstrations around the Rainbow Towers hotel during the visit of Sierra Leone Vice President Dr. Victor Bockarie Foh in Zimbabwe last week. VP Foh had been in Zimbabwe to officially open Zimbabwes President Mugabes annual Agricultural Show.

According to several reports from Zimbabwe, whilst speaking over the Zimbabwe official state media in a desperate mood, their Zimbabwean Presidential Spokesperson, George Charamba said the Zimbabwe government will not sit and watch while some citizens are turning Zimbabwe into a war zone.

Zimbabwe High Court Order

Imagine that the agricultural show is time for people to go for fun seeing various exhibitions. Imagine also that we had a VVIP visitor in the form of a Vice President from Sierra Leone and we find some rogue elements setting the capital on fire. That is unacceptable and we wont allow that to happen again. They have crossed the line, said Charamba.

Dozens of photographs and videos of the anti government riots and police chasing rioters and rioters chasing police around vicinity of the Rainbow Towers Hotel during the visit of VP Foh are currently all over social media and they infact dominated the discussions on many Zimbabwean social media groups. The photos show huge blazing fires set by youths along whole streets within the immediate premise of the Rainbow Towers hotel.

Furthermore, also distributed online are copies of the Zimbabwe High Court Order giving permission to protesters to demonstrate. The court order details that the demonstrators are to march from Freedom Square at an open space at Rainbow Towers through several major streets to deliver their anti government petition. However, the Police defied the Court Order and forcibly dispersed the demonstrators with tear gas. In return the rioters attacked the Police and set fires ablaze throughout the entire city center.

The evidence that rioting took place right next to the Rainbow Towers hotel is all over the Internet. Furthermore, the fact that Zimbabwe government got embarrassed in the face of VP Foh visiting the Agricultural Show, is also unquestionable.

Meanwhile, the Awareness Times is in receipt yesterday August 31st 2016, of an interesting letter from the Ministry of Information and Communication. We are mulling it over just as we ponder as to when will Honourable Minister of Information and Communication Mr. Mohamed Bangura, produce an authentic copy of the university degree certificate he presented to Parliament with spelling mistakes on it. We might soon make an application under the Right to Access Information Act 2013, to the Honourable House of Parliament for a copy of the spelling mistake document which Hon. Bernadette Lahai had waved up high in the air to the public during the interview of Bangura for his current job. For now, this newspaper will hold our peace. We believe there are better things for the government to do than try to intimidate the media over non-issues.
