NOTICE TO THE PRESS
American Business Council (ABC) Launched in Sierra Leone
The American Business Council (ABC) of Sierra Leone was officially launched on May 25, 2017, as a forum for U.S. and Sierra Leonean companies to strengthen commercial ties between the two countries. U.S. Ambassador John Hoover joined the President of the new ABC, Mr. Vincent Balogun, to mark the occasion.
Also attending the launch were representatives of companies from the energy, agriculture, telecommunications, extractives, and other sectors. In his opening remarks, U.S. Ambassador John Hoover pledged that “the U.S. Mission will work closely with the American Business Council to attract more U.S. investment, promote free trade, and support the development of Sierra Leone.”
As the American business community grows in Sierra Leone, the ABC will engage local businesses and the Government of Sierra Leone to build a more conducive environment for private sector growth. ABC President Vincent Balogun noted that the ABC will focus on “creating a platform for the exchange of ideas, establishing good business networks, advocating for a better business environment with sound policy synergies, and sharing best practice in industry.”
The ABC is a voluntary association of companies and individuals doing business in Sierra Leone. The ABC is open to companies and individuals that share the goal of promoting trade, business, and commerce between the two countries.
Companies interested in joining the ABC should contact Mr. Ali Dakhlallah at firstname.lastname@example.org or 077 011 111.
