“It is not the fault of the Honourable Minister that London Post Office no longer has a vacancy for a certain former postman to be delivering letters from door to door,” was the reaction of a close friend of Hon. Minister Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, to the confused mutterings of her predecessor at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender & Children’s Affairs. Her predecessor in consonance with the ministry’s $3,000 TIFFMAN former Permanent Secretary Bockarie Momo Foh now at Human Resource Management Office, had written several scathing comments against Minister Blyden’s personality all over social media. The attacks were because the Honourable Minister last week Friday May 26th 2017, commenced to reshuffle her ministry staff deployment nationwide. As they watched their well built cabal come tumbling down, Foh and Kaikai went ballistic on social media. However, like the well focused lady that all have come to know her for, Hon. Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden did not say a single word in response to the insulting rants from the two fellows.
She has instead stayed very focused on rearranging her ministry so as to better deliver social services to long-suffering citizens of this Nation.
Meanwhile, the reshuffle at the ministry which now seems to be unfolded on Fridays, has continued and is expected to continue next week.
Yesterday, Friday June 2nd 2017 has seen more changes as ordered by the Honourable Minister. The Head of the Ministry operations in Pujehun District, Madam Florence Harding Sandy transferred with immediate effect to headquarters in Freetown. Alhaji Mansaray, the second in command in Pujehun, is now in charge of Pujehun but only “until further notice”.
Tonkolili also now has Amadu Wurie as Head of Tonkolili district. This follows the substantive head going to America on a DV lottery visa.
Daniel Gbow has been transferred from headquarters to relocate to Bonthe Island to help rebuild the confidence of the island people, in the credibility of the Ministry. This follows recent very, very, very unfortunate developments on the island which was deliberately oversighted by the pertinent civil servants at Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) to the heavy dismay of Minister Blyden.
Mr. Daniel Gbow, and other officers and support staff whom credible sources say are to be shortly transferred to join him there , will have to remain on Bonthe Island “until further notice” when the residents of Bonthe Municipal Council area and surrounding islands, would have developed better confidence in the government ministry that is supposed to take the lead in protecting girls from unlawful sex and other forms of sexual violence.
More changes in personnel deployment are expected in the coming days at that Ministry.
Meanwhile, the Honourable Minister Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, is reported to have last Friday travelled to neighbouring Liberia to attend an important meeting of the Mano River Union (MRU) and to also participate in a major side event at the ECOWAS Heads of State summit. Amongst other things, the side event concerns social protection of women and children during a proposed West African Power Pool electricity generation project (TRANSCO CLSG) funded by World Bank and EU amongst others.
