The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Sia Nyama Koroma, and Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation, Madam Madina Rahman, have paid a surprise visit to Sierra Leonean patients receiving medical treatment at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, India.
The patients were full of joy and expressed gratitude for the visit.
After taking time to personally greet and converse with the patients, the First Lady and Deputy Health Minister met with top management staff of the Hospital.
The International business manager, Apollo Hospital,Dr. Vineet Arora, confirmed the commitment of the hospital's Chairman Dr. Pathrap C. Reddy, to support Sierra Leone's Health sector, by providing assistance for the newly installed Dialysis Unit, activate exchange programs for specialized doctors and nurses, and provide in-country training and initiate development programs.
Apollo Hospital Healthcare Group are the pioneers of telemedicine in India. Their team of doctors will begin to work with the Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation upon her return to Freetown towards fulfilling their commitment.
The First Lady's visit forms part of a five day exploratory tour of New Delhi, India, with the aim of learning about the development, best practices, patient care and upcoming projects of India's top hospital's, in order to replicate similar efforts in Sierra Leone.
