Magistrate Hannah Bonnie of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.3 at the Siaka Steven’s Street Law Court Building in Freetown has on Tuesday 20th June, 2017, remanded in custody one John Amidu Kamara who was allegedly arrested by officers of the Freetown City Council when he was urinating and defecating in the view of the public.
The accused person John Amidu Kamara was arraigned in court on counts charge of Public Urinating and Defecating in an unauthorized place contrary to Regulation four (4) of the Freetown City Council by- laws of 2010.
According to police charged shit, the incidence took place on Wednesday June 14th, 2017, at the Lumley Bridge in the Western Area of Freetown.
Magistrate Hannah Bonnie when remanding the accused person to the Pademba Road Male Correctional Center in Freetown said that so far the prosecutor has furnished her with pictorial evidence that clearly shown the accused person defecating and urinating in the view of the public. She added that such actions possess a serious health hazards to law abiding citizens in the country as there are likelihood for flies to feast from it and then deposit it in the food that are sold in the street by petty traders. She went on to say that such actions can cause illness to people which can possibly resulted to death and people in turn would blame the government for not taken action. Magistrate Hannah Bonnie adjourned the matter to Friday June 23rd 2017 for continuation and the accused person was remanded in custody. The police prosecutor is 9155 MaCarthy.
