The Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) has in a press statement issued on Friday 23rd June 2017, likely “Baranta” over the re-arrest and subsequent detention of its leader and chairman, and 2018 presidential candidate, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray.
“Baranta,” in our Lingua Frank means an act of one using excessive force to get his voice heard. Therefore, if we are to go by the ADP press release, then one is right to say the party has Baranta for the release of its chairman and leader.
“We condemn this act with the strongest possible terms. And as a political party, we call on our members, other opposition parties, civil society organizations, journalists, national and international friends of Sierra Leone to view the latest court action as unjust and abuse of power. The whole matter is politically motivated. It’s an act of political intimidation that will impede citizen’s participation, derail our peace, and create unnecessary panic among Sierra Leoneans,” the release noted.
Meanwhile, it could be recalled that on the 21st June,2017, Mr Kamarainba and one of ADP’s member Mohamed Bangura made an appearance in the ongoing trial of the case of the two versus the state in Segbwema Magistrate court.
Mr. Kamarainba and Mohamed Bangura are expected to appear before Magistrate George Samai of Segbewema Magistrate Court today June 28 instant, for continuation of hearing.

The Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) Press Release
June 23rd, 2017.
The Party wants the general public and its membership to know that the re-arrest and subsequent detention of its Leader ,Chairman, and presidential candidate is an act of abuse of judiciary procedure and conspiracy to derail the peace, oppress citizen’s rights, and destroy multi- party democracy of this country. Mr. Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has shown Sierra Leoneans that he is a peaceful citizen that loves his country.
On the 21st June, Mr Kamarainba and one of ADP member Mohamed Bangura made an appearance in the ongoing trial of the case between the two versus the state in Segbwema court.
Kamarainba was under three count charges that he has called politically motivated to victimize opposing voices of the corruption in the current government administration. The state counsel team failed to submit evidence and Magistrate George Samai dismissed all the three count charges against Mr Kamarainba.
The defense team Emannuel Saffa , H.M Gavao, and P.I Bangura were shocked by the unprecedented reversal of justice when the magistrate accepted a new file and with a new charge for the same case in the same Court presented by the state counsel. This has never happened in any credible court. To worsen the unfair justice, he detained our Leader and presidential candidate, Mr Kamarainba and our member, Mohamed Bangura. He adjourned the case to the 28th June, 2017.
We condemned this act with the strongest possible terms. And as a Political party, we call on our members, other opposition parties, civil organizations, journalists, national and international friends of Sierra Leone to view the latest court action as unjust and abuse of power. The whole matter is politically motivated. It’s an act of political intimidation that will impede citizen’s participation, derail our peace, and create unnecessary panic among Sierra Leoneans. It has no space in our modern time. Injustice to one is an injustice to all.
Also, those fake politicians who misuse our police force, court houses, and other institutions to carry out their political intimidation practice are cowards and Certified Public Enemies (CPE) of the peace and multi- party democracy we have nurtured as Sierra Leoneans.
We want the correctional centre to beware that Mr. Kamarainba should never be a subject of torture and other inhumane treatment. We are aware of his declining health and the need for urgent medical treatment. Every action would be accounted for with the greatest penalty for human right abuse.
To our members and the general public, the situation room is fully reactivated for daily update as look forward to the unconditional and speedy dismissal of this case as everything in this case is unclean.
Thank you.
