Two accused persons Augustine Bendu and Reuben Mensa yesterday June 28th 2017 were committed to the High Court of Freetown by Magistrate Albert Moody of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.2 in Freetown for the alleged case of sexual penetration of a twelve year old child.
The accused persons were charged to court on two counts charge of Conspiracy Contrary to Law and Sexual Penetration of a Child contrary to section 19 of the sexual offenses act No.12 of 2012. According to police charge sheet, the accused persons Augustine Bendu and Reuben Mensa on Friday 17th March 2017 at Lakka Village Peninsular in the Freetown Judicial District in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone sexually penetrated a child under the age of eighteen to wit twelve year.

The presiding magistrate, Magistrate Albert Moody whilst committing the matter of the accused persons to the High Court of Freetown said that he is satisfied that the prosecutor has given sufficient evidence against the accused persons. He added that based on the evidence before him the accused persons have a case to answer at the High Court and he therefore commit them to the High Court and he put the accused persons in the sum of thirty million Leones each with two sureties and sureties must reside in the western area of Freetown and the bail to be approved by the Deputy Master and registrar. The presiding Magistrate, Magistrate Albert Moody adjourned the matter to a date to be determined by the High Court of Freetown.
