Justice Komba Kamanda at the High Court of Freetown yesterday June 29th2017 has delivered his judgment in the case of a sexual penetration of a twelve-year-old child that police brought against the accused person Alie Lamin Sesay.
When delivering the judgment, Justice Komba Kamanda said that on the day of the incident the twelve-year-old child (name withheld) went to fetch water in a church compound at Aberdeen in the Western Area of Freetown and the accused person, Alie Lamin Sesay took the victim (twelve-year-old child) into one of the rooms in the church compound and inserted his penis into the twelve-year-old child.
Justice Komba Kamanda went on to say that the accused person, Alie Lamin Sesay failed to realize that the church compound is a holy place that is meant for worshiping God and that people attending service to seek the face of God for several needs.
Justice Komba Kamanda added that the evidence before the court is overwhelming against the accused person including the medical expert, Dr. Matilda King that testified in court that the twelve-year-old child (name withheld) was indeed sexually penetrated by the accused person. Justice Komba Kamanda added further that He went on to say that he found the accused person guilty of sexual penetration of a child contrary to section 19 of the sexual offences Act No.12 of 2012 and he therefore sentence the convict to fourteen (14) year imprisonment at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
According to police charged sheet, the convict Alie Lamin Sesay on Thursday April 30th 2015 in Aberdeen in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone did engage in an act of sexual penetration with a child below the age of eighteen to wit twelve year (name withheld).
The state prosecutors in this matter are AlieuVandi Koroma and Isaac Yusuf Sesay. The defence counsel in this matter is Sonia B. Brown.
