The Vice President of Research and Training Institute in the Peoples Republic of China, Madam Liu Ying has said that the friendship between China and Africa has lasted for a long history and that she is assuring Sierra Leone media of her fullest support and commitment.
She made this statement during the opening ceremony of seminar for media officials and Journalists from Sierra Leone on Friday, 7th July, 2017 in Beijing, China.
She informed that since the establishment of China-Sierra Leone diplomatic relations more than forty years ago, the two countries always adheres to the principles of sincere friendship, equality, mutual benefit, common development, mutual supports on issues concerning eachother’s core and major interests. She added that the bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and China are developing smoothly and that they have achieved fruitful results in the cooperation on large infrastructure projects and rapid development in the economic and trade cooperation.

She added that in 2016, the volume of trade between Sierra Leone and China reached $413 million, thus, China has become one of the most important trade partners for Sierra Leone.
She said that the two countries need strengthen mutual cooperation, mutual support and mutual help and through the cooperation in media, they hope to promote the development in political, economic, cultural and other fields, and create a new height of their bilateral friendship.
She admonished that China can see that the deepening development of their bilateral relations with Sierra Leone and the self-development of themselves have brought new hopes and opportunities for the media cooperation between them.
She said that the reform of the media led by the new technology shows them the new development direction of media, which has opened up a broader space for their future cooperation.
She recalled that since 2005, the Research and Training Institute of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television has been committed to build a win-win platform for the wide and effective international exchanges and cooperation in the field of radio and television. She added that by the end of 2016, nearly 2800 delegates from more than 143 countries in the five continents have participated in the various seminars and training activities organized by their institute and these projects not only build up the bridge of friendship.
She furthered that all the friends at the seminar can seize this precious opportunity to harvest something from this seminar, and establish a profound friendship with the Chinese colleague as a solid foundation for the future cooperation.
The theme of this seminar is “Media Cooperation: Open a New Chapter of China-Sierra Leone Friendship”.
