Principal of Methodist Boys High School Senior Division, Ibrahim Gibril Bakarr has disclosed to this medium that the administration has took a unanimous decision in expelling over 200 pupils in the SSS division to find another school due to their abysmal performance in the 2016/2017 academic year.
Mr. IG Bakarr as fondly called, stated that parents were duly informed about the decision of the school to maintain high standard of performance. He noted that criteria for promotion from one level to another were explained to parents in ordertocautioned their children/ward to take their studies seriously.
Mr. IG Bakarr disclosed that “for a pupil to be promoted to SS4, he should score 50% and above and no repeater is allowed. To be promoted to SS3, you need to score 50%or better, 45 to 49% promoted on trial and to the SS2, 50%, 40 to 49% promoted on trial base on their late entry into SS1”. He added that other pupils will also be expelled from the school due to their participation in clique related activities.
He called on parents to corporate with the school in maintaining standards and not to encourage their children to join bad friends as some boys were always absent from school, while some always came late to school and his administration will ensure that pupils who are ready and determine to learn will be encouraged to pursue their dreams. “High School need to bounce back and take it rightful status in the academic arena” IG Bakarr slammed.
The Principal of MBHS called on the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to speedily approved teachers as this has derail development of the school he has considerable number of teachers who are not on the government voucher. “I used the school funds to give these unapproved teachers stipend every month and this has seriously affected the development of the school” he said.
