The DAQVAH Charitable Organization on Sunday 6th of August 2017, has joined the world over in commemorating International World Breastfeeding Day so that Muslim women and lactating mothers will be better informed about the teachings of the Holy Quran on breastfeeding.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the DAQVAH Organization, Abdulrahman Jalloh said that as an Islamic Charitable Organization, health issues are one of their areas of priority. He added that the International Breastfeeding Day is celebrated globally and they have taken the golden opportunity to sensitized lactating mothers and women for them to always breast feed their children.

He went on to say that the Holy Quran makes it clear that woman should breast feed their children even up to two years. He continued to say that as an ardent believer of the teachings of the Holy Quran they deemed it wisely to come out and sensitize women about the need to breast feed their children so that they would better understand the doctrine of the Holy Quran on breastfeeding.
He added that as part of their activities in commemorating the International Breastfeeding Day, they would go out and give support to mothers that cannot afford much for their babies. He urged lactating mothers to always breastfeed their babies for a health growth. He added that breastfeeding is the food for babies.

Dr Musa Osman Bashay from the thirty four military hospital and also member of the DAQVAH Charitable Organization he said that DAQVAH Charitable Organization place health issues at the top most part of their activities. “You cannot give food to someone who is not healthy so as a charitable foundation we come together to celebrate this day from the 1st to the 7th of August 2017,” he disclosed. He added that they want pregnant women and lactating mothers to know about the important of giving breast milk to their babies. He revealed that breast milk helps to cement love relationship between the Mother and the child and also give a Healthy life to the baby. He went on to say that giving babies breast milk for two years is another way of family planning as it helps parents to space their children very well.
One of the beneficiaries Anmarie Conteh thanked the DAQVAH Charitable Organization for such an exposure to take proper care of their children.
