This newspaper does not "hate Ernest Bai Koromaís guts" as was posited by a local tabloid last weekend. On the contrary, we want him to succeed because it is only under a successful leadership that the plans of this newspaper for Sierra Leone can be achieved
Our continuous criticisms of our President are our own way of molding him to what we believe should be the way and manner he should lead this country. The people of this land have suffered too much as result of bad governance and corrupt deals. These vices led to the eruption of a civil war that touched the lives of virtually every Sierra Leone.
When this newspaper sees our President attempting to follow the same pattern of leadership that actually caused the war, we bring out the armaments in our possession (our pens and computer keyboards) and ceaselessly bombard that pattern of leadership in the hope that we will wipe such corrupt and bad style of leadership out of this land and instead nurture a more democratic and progressive style of leadership.
The APC should be rest assured that this newspaper does not hate them. We are simply not bootlickers like some others who are lulling Ernest Koroma into a bad leadership mold.
As recently as between 2004 to 2007, this newspaper and its publisher were under serious accusation of being pro-APC because of some critical stances against some aspects of the then SLPP Kabbah leadership. Today, we believe that both Kabbah and the SLPP realize that we did not hate them back then but we were merely trying to get them to do the right thing.
It might be painful for the APC to read our raw truths told about them but APC should realise that we write out of conviction and nothing else.
We donít hate Ernest Bai Koroma. We just want him to lead this land successfully and for now, he needs to overcome the obstacles standing in his path of success. To help him overcome them, we are going to continuously bombard his vices with our pens.
Ernest Koroma, we assure you that we do not hate you. We just want you to do the right thing and leave a good legacy for yourself Sir.
To end, we wish both the APC and President Koroma a blessed day.
