The second segment of the identification parade aimed at identifying police officers who allegedly assaulted journalists during the fracas between the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) on August 13th 2008, has suffered a serious setback yesterday.

3. Brima Acha Kamara, is this the Force For Good?

The affected journalists, Sitta Turay, Alimatu Fofanah, Michael Kargbo and others turned up at Police Headquarter to discover that the said police officers were absent on grounds that they were on another assignment.

Deputy Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Mustapha Sesay reported that the CDIID Director F.U.K Daboh informed that the officers in question are on duty at State House and couldnt be withdrawn due to security concerns.

One of the affected journalists, Michael Kargbo of Galaxy Radio expressed dissatisfaction over the unwarranted boycott of the police officers from the identification parade.

I came all the way from Lungi to specifically honour the programme only to be faced with such a disappointing situation, he said, adding that he is very frustrated with the way and manner they have been treated.

This is surely an attempt to derail the cause of justice and SLAJ should robustly follow the matter to the end, he said. All attempts by this press to contact the Director of CDIID proved futile.
