SIERRA LEONE ROADS AUTHORITY
WILFUL ENCROACHMENTS / OBSTRUCTIONS UPON THE RIGHTs- OF-WAY OF ROADS
The Management of SLRA wishes to inform the General Public that the following roads have been identified for planned expansion from dual
(2 Lanes) carriageways to four (4) lanes with a Right-Of-Way width of 20.0m (65.5 ft).
• Hill Cot Road
• Jomo Kenyatta Road
• Regent Road (Wilberforce/Hill Station)
• Spur Road
• Wilkinson Road
• Regent-Grafton Road
The Authority is warning encroachers, especially garage developers to desist from using the RIGHTs-OF-WAY on these roads for garage purposes which impair road safety contrary to the Sierra Leone Roads Authority Act, 1992, the Road Traffic Act 2008 and the Laws of Sierra Leone: - Cap 66-Freetown Improvement Cap. 81- Town and Country Planning; etc.
Such unauthorized excavations set a bad precedent for law abiding citizens and will forestall future road infrastructural expansion and/or the capacity to accommodate Public Utility Services such as Electricity, Water Supply Sewers, etc, thereby deterring socio-economic development.
Failure to adhere to this warning will leave the Authority with no alternative but to order the forceful demolition of these garages with costs to the culprits.
