An outstanding youth organization, Youth Arise, has condemned in no uncertain terms, the recent political violence that erupted between the two political giants in the country, the ruling All Peopleís Congress (APC) and the opposition Sierra Leone Peopleís Party (SLPP). The organization urged the two political parties to avoid political confrontation and violence with immediate effect, in a bid to sustain the peace and quite we are enjoying as a nation.

According to the National Coordinator of Youth Arise, Ishmael Abu Kamara, the country should now focus on the fight against poverty, ignorance and massive youth unemployment, rather than making violence a priority.

Mr. Ishmael Kamara added that the country should by now be working on an agenda to attract an influx of investors into the country, noting that the continued political violence in some parts of the country will only scare investors away.

For his part, the National President of Youth Arise, Ahmed R. Jalloh, expressed dismay that Sierra Leone is still dancing to the tune of violence, noting that those who want to take the country back to the dark days should not be allowed to have their way.

He called on all stakeholders including political parties, civil society groups religious leaders, and all concerned, to speak with one voice and out rightly condemn the attitudes of the two main political parties.
