C. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

I. (i) General University Requirements for Undergraduate degree programmes 5 credit passes at G.C.E. O Level or WASSCE including English Language and a Science Subject in not more than 2 (two) sittings.
(ii) In addition to one above there could be departmental requirements which can be obtained from the relevant department or the Registry.

NOTE: Candidates with 5 credits but without English Language could sit English Matriculation Exams conducted by the University
(iii) - NVQ. in at least 5 subjects in credits ranging from 1 to 5.
(iv) Higher Teachers Certificate (Secondary) in a related discipline.

II. Certificate and Diploma Programmes

(i) Ordinary Diploma
3 credits at G.C.E. O Level/ WASSCE including one credit related to the subject of study.
(ii) Higher Diploma
4 credits at G.C.E. O Level/ WASSCE including one credit related to the subject of study.
(iii) Certificate Programmes
(a) Teachers Certificate (TC)
(1) Either 3 G.C.E. O Level/WASSCE credits in not
more than 2 sittings Or
(2) Passing the National Teachers Certificate Entrance Examination.
(b) Higher Teachers Certificate (Primary) HTC (P)
(1) Either candidates should possess a Teachers
Certificate with at least 3 years of teaching experience
Or

(2) Unqualified and untrained teachers with at least 5
years teaching experience and 3 GCE O Level

WASSCE credits
Or
(3) Candidates with credits in 4 GCE O Level/WASSCE including a pass English.
(c) Higher Teachers Certificate Secondary (HTC) (S)
(1) Should possess the HTC (P) with 3 years teaching experience.
(2) Or 4 credits at G.C.E. O Level/WASSCE subjects including English Language. Candidates without English Language should pass a Matriculation English Examination.
(3) Or Holders of TC plus English Language and Mathematics or a Science subject at G.C.E. O Level/WASSCE plus 3 years teaching experience.
III. POSTGRADUATE & MASTERS PROGRAMMES
A candidate for the Postgraduate Diplomas, or Masters Degree Programmes should have acquired a good First Degree from a recognized university.

CLOSING DATE

The application forms for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are obtainable from the Campus Registries of Njala and Bo.

The closing date for the receipt of application forms at the Campus Registries is 15th June, 2009.
