At precisely 16:40GMT this afternoon, a team of one dozen well armed police officers from the Major Incident Support Team of the Sierra Leone Police stormed the Awareness Times offices at 17 Garrison Street in search of Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden. The policemen allege they were sent there to arrest the Publisher and Editor as well as to ransack the offices (under the guise of a so-called Search Warrant they refused to hand over for proper inspection). The 'search' is now ongoing. According to the police officers, writing about Arabella Foray, the President's girlfriend, who was falsely portrayed as First Lady in Kailahun, was a "Major Incident" that deserved for a newspaper to be ransacked. Stay tuned.
