Commending Mr. President!

President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is the current Head of State of Sierra Leone with supreme executive authority and a tremendous amount of constitutional powers. Thus, many people fear to tell him unpleasant truths about his leadership style... except a few like us, the team at Awareness Times who recently blasted Mr. President as ďunkindĒ for failing to commend his lieutenants when they deserve it but not hesitating to publicly put them down, criticise them and subject them to mockery even when they are working so hard to please him.

To be specific, we accused him of being unkind when he failed to publicly acknowledge the excellent strides that Afsatu Kabba had been undertaking as well as failed to thank the unpaid volunteers who helped Afsatu Kabba police our coastal front and raise an unprecedented excess of eleven billion leones!

That our accusation is now redundant following Presidentís spectacular and commendable show at State House last Thursday. We watched the full video recording and Mr. Presidentís 45 minutes performance was a brilliant show of leadership. For that, the team at Awareness Times have nothing but the highest possible level of commendation for him. We would ourselves be ďunkindĒ if we failed to commend Presidentís good deeds but only lambast all the time.

So, today, indeed we now eat our words and state a new position: Mr. President canít be said to be unkind to his able lieutenants. God Guide & Bless you Sir!
