The APC led Government of Sierra Leone yesterday April 22nd 2010 developed yet another headache when it had to dispatch security personnel to quell an outbreak of violence between irate Limba and Kurankoh youths of the two chiefdoms making up Kabala town in northern Koinadugu District. The two tribal youths went on the rampage attacking each other for what is described as a misunderstanding between the District Council Chairman, Mr. Bayuku Conteh, and the Representative of Koinadugu Paramount Chiefs in Parliament, P.C. Allie Ballah Marrah III.

The commotion caused by contention between Limba youths of Wara Wara Yagala Chiefdom and their Kurankoh counterparts in Sengbeh Chiefdom according to reports, resulted from an alleged statement the District Council Chairman, Mr. Conteh uttered in respect to use of development funds over Radio Bintumani FM 93.7 the previous day.

In making his presentation over the most listened to radio station in the district, Mr. Coneth is averred said that "foolish Paramount Chiefs and Parliamentarians want Council Development Funds to be diverted from bettering lives of their subjects to personal gains." This aired opinion of the District Chairman by all indications did not go down well with most Paramount Chiefs more so Hon. P.C. Allie Ballah Marrah III.

As a result of this, youths of Sengbeh Chiefdom where PC Marrah III is the traditional ruler resolved to march with their Chief to the Offices of the District Council Chairman Mr. Bayuku Conteh for clarification.

Youths from the neighbouring Wara Wara Yagala Chiefdom, the stronghold of Mr. Conteh also mobilized themselves and tensions flared leading to a repetition of ethnic violence that once erupted between the two groups. Most youths of Wara Wara Yagala Chiefdom are Limbas whilst those of Sengbeh are Kurankohs.

Although no deaths, serious injuries or destruction of properties happened, the feud totally halted business activities yesterday until Police reinforcements from Makeni intervened to quell down the situation.

The District Council Chairman, Mr. Conteh is said to have come under serious attack at his office that would have probably cost him his life had it not been for police who acted swiftly to dislodge Wara Wara Yangala youths and whisked him to the PEBU Military Barracks.

Meanwhile, as normalcy is gradually returning, police officers have been deployed at the common boundary between the two Chiefdoms. A Security Team from Freetown is expected in the township of Kabala later today. Kabala encompasses the two chiefdoms of Wara Wara Yagala and Sengbeh.
