Accompanying Disabled Sulaiman Kallon and the other Disables to the Awareness Times offices yesterday May 12th 2010 were members of the APC Disabled Youth Wing who said the alleged Statement from APC Party Scribe Victor Foh that supporters of Haja Afsatu Kabba going to the Law Courts were not genuine APC members is to be considered as, "the most nonsense utterance ever from the mouth of the APC party scribe who already has a reputation for saying a lot of nonsense anyway".
President of APC Disables, Mr. Ibrahim J. Dumbuya confirmed that they have been ostracized and physically assaulted by Afsatu Kabba’s detractors many times because they associated themselves with Haja Afsatu Kabba since her corruption trials started but that they will not relent.
"The verbal insults that our own Party Scribe Victor Foh has joined people to throw at APC Disabled members who go to Law Courts to show solidarity with Haja Afsatu Kabba is a clear violation of our basic human rights to our reputations, our freedom of association and our freedom of movement," the disabled but eloquent Dumbuya informed.
Dumbuya also strongly took on President Koroma for his unfulfilled campaign promise in 2007 to improve the welfare of the physically challenged.
"This is not proving so because President Koroma is not fast tracking our issue. And more importantly his government has turned its back on Haja Afsatu Kabba who used to recommend us for trainings and employments," Dumbuya stressed.
"No-one discards their mother because someone accuses the mother; Haja Afsatu Kabba is the mother of the Disable Youths of Freetown and we are not going to discard her just because she is charged with corruption. She is our mother and we are with her just like thousands of Freetown’s youths so Victor Foh should know this and stop disowning us that we are not APC members because he knows very well we are registered APC members," he said.
The APC Disables also informed Awareness Times that they were planning a special peaceful march along the streets of Freetown dressed in their bright red APC party colours as a show of support for the charged Marine Minister for which they have already sought police clearance and protection during the said march. They insist that Haja Afsatu’s detractors want the world to treat her like a leper just because of as yet unproven allegations which was why they were going all out to show the detractors that until Haja Afsatu Kabba is proven to be guilty, she will not suffer ostracisation.
"We are only awaiting police clearance as we have already applied to them," Dumbuya said.
