Video clip monitored yesterday at the weekly government press briefing at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Information and Communication, Youyi Building in Freetown has vindicated opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) of any riotous conduct and the brandishing of machetes contrary to bogus and unfounded claims made by the APC and the Minister of Mineral Resources and Presidential Affairs, Alpha Khanu. After the May 8 elections in Constituency 91 that gave the SLPP a landslide victory, the minister in several interviews claimed that a set of SLPP youths on that day gathered holding cutlasses and sticks to intimidate APC voters from casting their votes. The video clips also showed the Chairman of the PMDC and other youth gathered in front of one road block as he was trying to tell them to go back and stay peaceful, there were about five road blocks shown in the video clip but there was no violence portrayed by the youth, it was only one young man who was arrested by the police with cutlass in his hand, who was seriously beaten by the police. But sources have it to say that the man arrested was coming from his farm before he was arrested. In her statement the Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Haja Saadata Sesay confessed that indeed the video clips shows no amount of violence as there were only youth who were dancing and singing all about.
