Dear Mr. John Benjamin,

The time will come when the SLPP will realise that regardless of how much you "break your backs", some of the current batch of people making up the local "International Community" are still committed to their 2007 regime-change ideals which means they want President Koroma firmly back in the driving seat come 2012. This is especially so for operatives within the US Embassy! You can start by finding out the real reason why certain people ensured June Carter Perry was hounded out of this place...!

Sir, if you are counting on International support to give you the level playing field needed, you are making a huge mis-calculation. The day you (SLPP) re-orientate your mindset to realising that these local ‘International Community’ are avowed enemies of the SLPP’s 2012 success, the day you will have taken the first step towards winning 2012... They are enemies of your 2012 success because they need to justify what they did in 2007 [regime-change] and the only way to do this, is to prop up APC as popularly elected party and SLPP as guys who corruptly ran the country for 11 years.

Sir, by the SLPP Leadership continually remaining in the mould of ‘Let Us Try To Please The International Community’, you are short-changing the SLPP people who trusted you to lead!

Sir, you have done so well for the SLPP since you were popularly elected but in this aforementioned respect, your leadership of the SLPP is short-changing your members because trying to impress the International Community into believing that the APC does anything bad is a thoroughly useless venture. Even if Ernest Koroma had sent one hundred thugs to drive Tejan Cole away, the American Embassy operatives would have said Ernest was committed to fighting corruption. The President’s bodyguards went down to molest women at the SLPP party offices and look at what happened? The ‘International Community’ not only down-played the report on what the women suffered but played games to ensure that you as the Opposition Leader got blocked from entering USA and addressing the U.N’s Peace Building Commission on what really happened.

Mr. Leader, Your tactics must change for the good of this country because it is not just the SLPP that matters but without a viable opposition, this country is doomed. It is time someone within the SLPP, stood up and challenged certain ill-motivated members of the International Community for the bogus stance they promoting.

Mr. Leader, honestly, Sulaiman Banja Tejansie has played right into the hands of the duo of the APC and International Community by his ill-thought, over-exuberant commendation of Abdul Tejan-Cole which he misguided himself to embark upon.

Mr. Leader, Sulaiman Banja Tejansie has allowed pro-APC operatives within the US Embassy to solidify the erroneous foundation that the Ernest Koroma led APC fight against corruption in Sierra Leone has all along been a genuine one when the SLPP must surely know it has never been a genuine one but one of selective prosecutions and a witch-hunting tool for getting rid of ‘overambitious’ persons like Sheku Tejan Koroma and Haja Afsatu Kabba.

Mr. Leader, please remember Sir that both Sheku Tejan Koroma (the son-in-law of Tamba Juana of Kailahun) and Haja Afsatu Olayinka Kabba both once eyed the top tiers of APC leadership! It is not a coincidence that they both are hounded but Zainab ‘Basmati Indian Rice’ Bangura and Edmond ‘NASSIT Ferry’ Koroma and Sylvanus ‘Million Dollar Tax Waiver’ Koroma are sacred cows. It is the design and wishes of the APC Leader for it to be so. Therefore, how can anyone say the APC is committed to fighting corruption with these sacred cows all over the place?

Sir, your appointed Spokesman has allowed the US Embassy to solidify the erroneous foundation that the Ernest Koroma led APC fight against corruption in Sierra Leone has all along been a genuine one when the SLPP must surely know it has never been a genuine one but one in which Tejan-Cole carried out selective prosecutions and became a witch-hunting tool for getting rid of ‘overambitious’ persons like Sheku Tejan Koroma and Haja Afsatu Olayinka Kabba. Remember that both Sheku Tejan Koroma (the son-in-law of Tamba Juana of Kailahun) and Haja Afsatu Kabba both once eyed the top tiers of APC leadership!

Mr. Leader, a brilliant opportunity to expose the insincerity of President Koroma in fighting corruption has lapsed because of the poor skills of your chosen SLPP Spokesman but you are also to blame a little because not only did you appoint Banja Tejansie but you have committed a sin to the party by omitting to lead but falling by the wayside whilst non-elected persons took over the leadership that you were elected to provide.

Mr. Leader, you started just fine last weekend and continued up to this Monday but then you went silent and allowed a non-elected man like Banja Tejan-Sie to destroy your work. If only you had continued to lead a SUSTAINED offensive this week highlighting the obvious lapses and insincerity of both Tejan-Cole and President Koroma, there is absolutely no way the US Embassy would have barefacedly issued the conflicting Press Release below. Rather than sustaining your offensive to expose the insincerity of Tejan-Cole and President Koroma, Mr. Leader you were browbeat into silence whilst you allowed Banja Tejansie to go around making a fool of the party over the airwaves thinking he was impressing the International Community against the APC when the APC and the International Community are synonymous with each other for now with the same agenda to maintain the regime-change they implemented in 2007.

The US Embassy has actually succeeded to have the SLPP to strengthen their regime change status quo that they wish to maintain. I ask if the US Embassy has not therefore used the SLPP? I ask because they state of their ‘confidence’ in the APC Government. Allow me to quote from their release: "We are confident the Government of Sierra Leone is committed..."!

Mr. Leader, so what is the benefit of what the Spokesman did in whitewashing Tejan-Cole’s omissions and trying to separate Tejan-Cole’s non-commitment from the APC’s non-commitment? How now can SLPP say that APC Government is not committed if the misguided position of the SLPP is that Abdul Tejan-Cole was committed? Can Tejan-Cole’s anti-corruption legacy be separated from APC’s legacy? No way! Think carefully this Mr. Leader!

Mr. Leader, Abdul Tejan-Cole ignored outright corruption like the NASSIT Ferry, Million Dollars Tax Waivers and Indian Rice saga, etc. etc. etc. with no explanation given for why he ignored them and yet US Embassy issues words of praises for APC’s "commitment" and Tejan-Cole’s "excellence"? WAKE UP LEADER! WAKE UP! Redirect the SLPP’s energies away from working to please the International Community and instead expose the hypocrisy and shameless double-speak of folks like the operatives at the US Embassy; Operatives who involve themselves shamelessly in our local politics. Wake up sir! Otherwise, come 2012...

Yours truly, A Concerned Sierra Leone Citizen.
